“A little more than a year and a half ago I decided to search for a personal trainer who would understand the unique needs of my body.  Due to rheumatoid arthritis and other chronic ailments my physical activity can be limiting.  I have to admit, I was not only skeptical but extremely nervous because I had been to many gyms in the area, but was not comfortable with one trainer I spoke to.  Then I met Brenna, who has changed my life.  I never had the confidence to workout or knew the first thing about exercising my body the right way.  She explained how she would incorporate different exercises with weight training to help my body heal, not hurt, (at least not hurt in the BAD way!).  I have strength in my body I never thought possible.  The studio is a wonderful, energetic space.  They truly care about their clients and their success.  I recommend them to anyone looking improve their minds, body and spirit, regardless of your physical limitations.”

“I was a bit of wreck when I started training with Brenna—as a former competitive snowboarder and active climber (though I’d been benched at that juncture for about 2 years due to foot surgery, starting a business and old injuries that refused to go away) I’d abused my body quite a bit. I walked crooked, had bad knees, couldn’t sleep on my back, etc. The biggest selling point for me was the accountability, because Brenna can tell when I haven’t been doing my exercises. I can’t recommend Koa Fit or Brenna Backe highly enough. I’ve been able to start climbing again, and even running, which is killer. The best part, though, is the awareness I’ve gained about how I move, and the lack of pain when I do. This is stuff I’ll be thanking Brenna for until I’m hanging tough in a rocking-chair on the porch (and I’ll be probably rocking-chair bound a lot later thanks to her).”

I first went to her to get some balance and strengthen my core while training for an IronMan – and was able to increase my training and had less problems, pain and injuries. Unfortunately, I had a serious bike accident which prevented me from racing or training for several months. She took time and care to customize a diet and exercise regimen that has helped me to lose over 20 lbs, dramatically reducing body fat and inches (in all the right places!!). She really listens to you and readily makes adjustments to meet your needs. No matter what time of the day or day of the week, Brenna is always cheerful and supportive. “Every body- no matter where you are in your fitness level – you have to try this class!  It’s like a really fun, challenging training session with friends and good music.  I walked into the studio with an open mind, ready for something new and Brenna met me with a bright smile.  I knew she would make sure we worked hard and her smile assured me we’d have fun .  Brenna’s class was obviously well planned.  She led us through a progression of exercises.  The first ones were – you guessed it – to engage the core.  Then we found and activated muscle groups to build stability and worked into more and more challenging moves.  I loved that we didn’t count – just focused on the movement until Brenna led us into the next thing.  With her characteristic attention, Brenna made sure each of us was moving correctly and made adjustments to help us.  Even though it was a group class, I felt like each of us got some unique information and definitely individual attention.  By the end I was worked but left feeling really strong and like I was flying down the sidewalk.  I can’t wait for the next one.   Thanks Brenna!”
