Running Clinic – Think and Grow Faster!

Canceled

Thursday, May 17th at 5:45pm
With Running Coach, Art Ives
In many ways the sport of distance running is beautifully simple, all you do is lace up your shoes and head out the door. But even though endurance sports provide an opening to greater health, happiness and confidence, there’s no easy way of running. Sometimes it hurts! There certainly are many ways to make it easier however. Knowledge, training, and coaching can dramatically increase your efficiency and enjoyment while reducing the risk of injury and burnout.
This talk will speak to those who want to improve their health and speed in order to run 5K,10K or move up to 1/2 marathon distance. As well as those who couldn’t care less about racing, who simply want to fall in love with running more and discover a new direction for themselves.

Answers:
  • How much should I train?
  • How long is long enough, how fast is fast enough?
  • What are the best times to do each workout?
  • Who are the most important people to work with?
  • What are the most important things to do at all times?

About Art Ives:

Art has either coached or competed at every running distance from 100 meters to 100 miles. His love of running is matched only by his love of helping other runners surpass their personal goals. His holistic, comprehensive approach to running creates positive, lasting changes in his clients’ biomechanics, physical capabilities, and mental attitudes.  Learn more about Art, his clients, and his coaching at www.thewayofrunning.com.

Brawn and Brains – Exercise and Cognitive Strength

A Workout for Your Body and Mind

A Be Balanced Community Event

Join us on Thursday, February 22nd at 5:45pm for an exercise class that not only strengthens the body, but the mind.

Recent studies have been exploring the connection between physical exercise and cognitive function.  Working out mindfully and completely focused at the task at hand – including your breath, your posture, your frame of mind – not only makes you more productive in your workout, it also helps strengthen your cognitive function.  By bringing focus and challenge to your workout, you can literally strengthen the entire body and mind.

Join us for a 1 hour class that will challenge you physical and mentally and change the way you look at your workout.

Class is free, but space is limited.  Please click HERE to RSVP.

What We Believe – 2018

At the start of the new year, the Koa Fit trainers sat down and wrote out a few things they truly believed.  Below are the answers in no particular order.

We Believe…

Fresh air and sunshine can cure any bad mood.

If you move the body, you move the mind.

Real food, eaten mindfully and with friends, is one of the great pleasures of life.

Working smart is far superior to working hard.

You can teach an “old” body new tricks.

Your support system does not depend on your physical location.

In doing things the right way, even if it is harder.

Peace must be found in one’s own mind before it can ever be found in another person, location, or object.

What goes around comes around.

Within a community where there is mutual love and kindness, we can creatively solve big challenges.

The secret to a healthy body is movement and hydration.

Our bodies are our partners.

Hard work and dedication make our successes taste sweeter.

Communities encourage understanding, love, and camaraderie.

That a walk in nature is some of the best medicine.

Exercise is always more fun with a friend.
